Get Ready to (Probably) Pay More Taxes Thanks to...

William Heasley, Charles Dizard and Gary Lilly

Here, I thought Moe, Larry and Curly had passed on! Maybe they were cloned?

The proposed Golden AARP Bike/Pedestrian Path along Springhill Road doesn't even qualify for a 0 on the 1 to 10 Stupidity meter (10 being semi-intelligent)!

Set aside the absolutely ludicrous, moronic thought that this idea would in ANY WAY allow Natrona residents to walk up a steep hill to a practically non-existent commercial area then carry BAGS (how many?) back down a dangerous and definitely risky health creating situation, not to mention other safety concerns (which they haven't),  we other residents are now faced with yet another yearly tax fee to pay for absolutely no reason.

[”They (our commissioners) cited a need for a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists in Natrona to reach Natrona Heights, where many of Harrison Township’s social and commercial services are located,” he said]

Over the last month I've talked to nearly 40 seniors who live in Natrona, a number who, because of age, infirmities and poor health could never make the trek up Harrison's Donner Pass.

By the way...There's already a walkway (not well taken care of especially in the winter) even with a SIDEWALK already!!! up Argonne Drive that would be closer to a Supermarket and UPMC Urgent Care Facility (which would possibly be  needed after some septu and octo- genarians make the Bataan March up the hill. You younger relatives of those Natrona seniors might want to take that into acount. Passing on is one thing. Taking care of a senior for years may be a burden too large to undertake because of a certain few's stupidity, lack of foresight or maybe even greed.

Since this pathway (Argonne Drive) has been here for, oh, I don't know, make it a couple of weeks (or decades!), I'm wondering why those Natrona residents without County Provided Transportation (Thanks Port Authority for saving yourself money by dropping bus service to the Heights) haven't availed themselves of this wonderfully arduous walk in the past?  Is it because a mile long walk up a hill is too strenuous for those who are not in such good shape as our three concerned commissioners...who while they may not be  PHYSICALLY old as most of those seniors they supposedly care for in Natrona, MENTALLY, I'm not so sure? Yeah. That last part was hard to write without laughing! Or is it because our caring commissioners...

...cited a need for a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists in Natrona to reach Natrona Heights, where many of Harrison Township’s social and commercial services are located?

I for one am impressed by their concern. Can't have these folk moving or passing on and thus lowering our tax base!

How about this! Heasley, Dizard and Lilly...why don't you three start on River Ave and walk up to both ways - first the easier, ready to go one using Argonne Drive and back down. Then take your Golden Pathway up a heavily traveled Springhill Road after which you will be carrying 3 or 4 or more FULL, weekly bags of groceries (because you certainly don't want to make the trip more than once a week!) back to River Ave? Piece of cake, right? Oh, and don't worry about the weather. After all a little rain, sleet or maybe snow and ice won't be too much of a burden on you fine specimens of physicality! I'm sure  Chief Kline would be ever so happy to halt all traffic one way (the proposed Stairway to Heaven) up and down Springhill Road until you three finished your Stair Trek. Of course I'm worried that Chief Kline may retire BEFORE the THREE AMIGOS finish their journey.

All of this smacks of the BS that Highlands School Board in 2000 went through to get us a fine new, hardly ever used, Taj Mahal Stadium that we just finished paying off. We had to increase our tax mill age to pay for an unused, poorly designed, badly up-kept kluge. Oh, the rationale by a certain few then (Hi Tim, Karen, Judy et al - if you don't know who they were, take a guess) was the stadium would pay for itself in WPIAL payoffs and community uses. And to think these were the brainless ideas of some people who ran their own business(s) into the ground citing a lack of customers!!! imagine that!), add a couple of Highlands Employees who most certainly took advantage of the situation, not to mention the Moronic Clique that supported these charlatans, and devil-be-damned, we don't care what they think, attitude that the residents wouldn't realize the extra taxes they'd have to pay.

[In an August 2017 letter, the township endorsed the county’s application for funding for the path and said it would provide maintenance to assure its year-round safety if the county was successful in getting the money.]

And I'm sure our commissioners explained to every resident how the maintenance would be taken care of!!! You all remember that, right? And agreed to it by not saying a word against it because you somehow believed it wouldn't cost us anything since they told us this was all funded by Uncle Don? Of course, maybe they glossed over or left out the part where WE pay the upkeep!

If our unthinking commission decides we should go ahead with this fiasco, so that WE taxpayers foot another needless bill...how about this..

...We put a toll booth at the top or bottom, or both and charge $1.00 for usage. I'm sure those three really concerned commissioners would be MORE THAN HAPPY to volunteer their time to sit in the booths and collect the fees! They could set up a rotating schedule among themselves. LOL!

Don't know what would be funnier - watching those three on their trek or imagining them working in a toll booth! Sorry. I got a vision of that happening and had to stop typing. Of course, I'm sure a couple of old lap top computers would come in handy for them keeping track of fees. ROTFLMAOPMP!!!

Oh, and if you can't make today's meeting to voice your concerns, remember this...it happened real quick so some wouldn't be able to make their voices heard. Kind of reminds us of that cabal in D.C.

And in case  some (many) of you readers don't know or understand, this article is purposely, sarcasticly written to show the incompetence of people in power who don't or won't think ahead or aren't really concerned with the lives of others. We already have one of those in the WH and certainly don't need 3 others adding taxes we don't need while so many and so much else needs that money.
